The Corsair Vengeance M65
We’re having a thorough look at the Corsair Vengeance M65. Corsair has already won gaming fans all over the world with their Corsair Vengeance M60 and now they are just adding up to the Vengeance series with the new Corsair Vengeance M65. This is a gaming mouse designed with FPS fans in mind and it delivers the promised great performance and on top of that is also performing excellent in other genres like RTS and action/adventure for instance. It has solid build and just the right features that a gamer would want from a mouse. The Vengeance M65 is a great choice for any medium level players and FPS pros.

The Corsair Vengeance M65 is one of the rare to find gaming mice made out of aluminum. The top is covered with nicely textured non-slip plastic and the thumb and pinky rests are soft and comfortable. The quality of the materials used is excellent and you do not feel like you have just spent a small fortune on a mouse that feels cheap. The other thing about the design that brings great comfort is the fact that the mouse is fairly big and fits palm and claw grippers easily, without forcing your hand into molded cavities. The great build quality is also valid for the buttons – none of them feels flimsy and the scroll wheel is made out of metal covered with rubber. It is quite sturdy and clicky, which is quite important for an FPS gaming mouse. The M65 is not busy with buttons, it has 8 in total and the placement is just the right one. Apart from the right and left click buttons and the big and comfortable scroll wheel, the mouse also has two DPI adjustment buttons placed just beneath the scroll wheel. As an FPS gaming mouse, the Corsair Vengeance M65 is also fitted with a “sniper mode” button located in the thumb cradle, which in a blink can switch DPI to low so that you can aim and take a precise shot with long-range weapons. There are two more programmable thumb buttons, that come set to forward and back for browsing.
In addition to the comfortable design, the M65 also features adjustable weights. It’s three of them located at the bottom of the mouse and each one can be removed, so that you can personalize your mouse’s weight and balance it to fit your likings.
The only thing that is somewhat of a downside is that the Vengeance M65 wouldn’t suit lefties. That is a pity, as this is one comfortable gaming mouse and would have been great if even lefties could enjoy it.
The most important feature of the Corsair Vengeance M65 and the one that makes it different than its predecessor, the Corsair Vengeance M60 that sells for the same price is the Avago LaserStream Sensor, ADNS-9800. The sensitivity level can be set to anything from 50 to 8200 DPI. You can also choose between different polling rates in the range of 125 Hz to 1000 Hz. Of course, to be able to play around with these settings, you will need to download the Corsair Software. The software itself is not complicated once you have figured out how to actually program buttons and customize settings, but this will take time, as there are no straightforward instructions on how to do that. On the other hand, this way you will learn the ins and outs of your mouse and will be able to totally make it your own. The Corsair Vengeance M65 and software also feature the ability to adjust sensitivity for vertical and horizontal movement, that no other gaming mouse offers.
You can also save profiles to the Corsair Vengeance M65 and link them with games.
We did test the Corsair mouse with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and the gaming mouse performed excellent in both genres. The sniper button was really helpful and did what it is was supposed to do in FPS games. The mouse is lag-free and offers great accuracy in game. The laser sensor allows you smooth moves even when your DPI is set to high and the fact that you can also customize the X-Y sensitivity and the response time makes the Corsair Vengeance M65 a great choice.
Overall, the Corsair Vengeance M65 is as good as a gaming mouse can get. It is clutter-free, comfortable, and solid at the same time. The design actually lets you enjoy playing. It is fitted with a great quality sensor and a sniper button that make you move smoothly across the screen, aim precisely and win over your competitors. The Corsair Vengeance M65 is highly customizable and versatile and it will suit any game genre fans, not only the FPS gamers it is aimed for. If this is not enough, the price is pretty fair. For about $80, you will make a great investment in a gaming mouse with a good quality that will last you years and will let you completely enjoy playing.
